High profile game tech firm Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has entered the Croatian online market.
GiG, which is listed in the Swedish stock market, has taken a 75% share in Top Games. Top Games is a Croatia-based betting firm that has an online gambling permit in the country.
The gambling market in Croatia is small but is growing quickly. The country currently has six licensed casino operators, but GiG hopes the market could be worth over €350 next year. Although online gambling in the country is taxed at 15% GiG clearly see an opportunity.
Thanks to the new deal, GiG will introduce its customer-focused brands in the Croatia market and plans to set up an online casino site in the first part of 2020.
Top Games’ land casino will own the other quarter of the business, which will leave GiG free to handle the online side of the operation as it enters the regulated Croatian market.
GiG have so far not revealed the cost of the investment but has said that there will be a small impact on the firm’s revenue in 2020.
The acting CEO of GiG, Richard Brown, said that Croatia is an interesting market for gambling operators and that the deal fitted with the firm’s growth strategy:
“This is a good opportunity to showcase the strength of our online casino offering and our passion for providing end users with a safe, responsible and competitive online gambling experience.”
This has been a good few weeks for GiG. Earlier this
month they earned an ISO certificate for their data security performance, and
in September they struck a deal with Betfred to provide online games
technology. Based in Malta and founded in 2012, GiG has been one of the iGaming
industry’s fastest growing operators in recent years.
