Isle of Man-based casino games developer Foxium have announced a new pirate-themed title, produced as part of their exclusive contract with Microgaming.
Foxium signed up with Microgaming back in the autumn of 2017, producing a series of popular titles for the gaming giant over the last two years, and Microgaming will be hoping that the latest Foxium offering, Boom Pirates, continues that run of success.
Speaking about the launch of their new title, Foxium CEO Ake Andre said that it was part of their ongoing efforts to bring innovation into game design:
“Boom Pirates is set to be an explosive success and marks the maiden voyage of our new Foxify and Wonderways technologies, which we believe will transform the player experience and enable our creative teams to take game development to the next level.”
According to Foxium, Boom Pirates will be based around the character of Captain Mary and her pirate crew and will incorporate the developer’s new Wonderways and Foxify components.
The Wonderways feature will give players the chance to transform the game’s starting five-by-four-reel grid into a nine-by-six layout, which, according to the developers, will offer 10 million winning opportunities. The Foxify feature is also new and will apparently enable players to trigger additional treasure features, with the option to boost their winning chances by increasing their initial stake.
Foxium are clearly hoping that the Captain Mary character will prove popular with online casino players as she features heavily throughout. During the game, her appearance triggers prize-winning features, including the transformation of non-winning spins into winning combinations, and the generation of scatter symbols on three reels, which in turn launches a treasure hunt game.
Another interesting feature is the ability to buy free spins at any time during the game, for a price of 100 times their initial bet, though it remains to be seen how popular this will be with players.
