High profile US sports betting company FanDuel have continued their expansion in the US sports betting market, with the announcement of a Michigan collaboration.
The firm have joined up with MotorCity Casino to launch a new, fully integrated, real money online gaming service for the state of Michigan. The FanDuel app, which offers casino and sports betting products and the standalone FanDuel Casino app will be available for customers in the state, along with the FanDuel fantasy sports betting app.
Michigan will be the tenth state in which FanDuel will offer mobile sports betting, after launching their betting products in New Jersey, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Tennessee and Virginia. The Michigan launch follows the debut of the FanDuel Sportsbook at MotorCity Casino in Detroit, which opened back in March 2020.
FanDuel say that they will offer a risk-free first bet for new Michigan customers, in which they will refund losing bets under certain conditions. The betting app itself will give customers the ability to bet on a wide range of sports and will include features including Same Game Parlay bets, player protection and fast banking. The app will also include the FanDuel wallet technology.
For fans of casino gaming, FanDuel will offer casino playing option through two mobile apps: the standalone casino app and in the ‘casino lobby’ of the sportsbook app. FanDuel say that they are offering a library of slots games, baccarat, blackjack and video poker.
FanDuel Group began life as a Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) operator, but have been one of the most successful new operators in the fast growing US sports betting sector. They have a presence in 45 states across the US, and have signed up with European betting operator Betfair. They also have betting partnerships with a number of Us sports franchises. Their sportsbook facility at the MotorCity Casino Hotel gives them access to the potentially lucrative Detroit sports betting market.
In person betting has been legal in Michigan since March 2020, but online sports betting only came into effect this month. The rules for the new sports betting market in Michigan stipulate that sports betting operators have to partner with one of the existing casino facilities in the state.
