Darkness Doesn’t Stop the Show at Scores

-

The tradition in show business is that even if everything goes wrong, the show must go on. A visit to a casino resort isn’t just about gambling. There are some excellent shows to attend and on October 5, even a power cut didn’t stop the entertainment. The Scores venue is situated inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and when a power cut hit Atlantic City, the lights went out but the show continued. The power cut at 1am (why do they always have to happen at nightime?) led to some venues including the Borgata being totally evacuated. The venue lost the power for their entire casino floor and nightclub and had no option but to close.

Further problems ensued at Bally’s, Ocean Casino Resort and Harrah’s with people finding themselves stuck in the elevators. Former ‘Jersey Shore’ star Pauly D was the DJ at the Pool After Dark which became the Pool in the Dark. It took two hours for the lights to be restored at that venue. The problems lasted as long as four and a half hours at some venues.

However, all of this didn’t stop the dancers at Scores and they just kept on dancing. They did so for nearly an hour until staff were able to get some lighting organized.

It was to prove an eventful night for Lil Jon. He was due to be performing at Borgata but due to the power cut that was cancelled. Not wanting an early night despite all the power problems, he headed to Scores with DJ Vice. Instead, Lil Jon spent the night enjoying a few lap dances and “made it rain with several thousand in singles” partying until 5am.

There was a serious side to the events of the evening. At first there were some fears that a terrorist attack might be taking place as the entire Atlantic City row went dark. It wasn’t all bad news for the casinos though. Their slot machines have another battery-operated power supply, so players were still able to spin those reels.
