A leading Irish bookmaker has thrown its weight behind Responsible Gambling Week (RG Week)
BoyleSports has announced that it will be supporting this year’s RG Week, which runs from November 7 to 13. RG Week is a multi-industry campaign, now in its third year, which aims to raise the profile of the cause of safe gambling and spark a national debate.
RG Week brings together both Irish and UK bookmakers, along with other stakeholders including youth groups, charities and financial firms. Through a series of events, as many as 120,000 members of staff who work in the industry are set to participate over the course of the week.
Boylesports has committed to support RG Week in both its retail and online entities, promoting RG Week-themed campaigns on both platforms.
The firm has also said that it would be making leaflets available at all of its retail premises. These leaflets will offer customers advice on safer gambling and listing the five key behaviours of responsible gambling, including never gambling more than you can afford.
In addition, Boylesports say that they will be promoting responsible gambling through messages on the screens of gambling machines, and through posters in all of its premises.
Earlier this week, two leading sports bodies also confirmed their support for RG Week. The English Football League (EFL) and the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) threw their weight behind the campaign. The EFL has committed to ensure that its clubs promote RG Week in matchday programmes and through digital channels. The BHA has also committed to supporting the campaign, with digital messages and raceday signage.
Speaking about this year’s campaign, John Hagan, the Chairman of the Industry Group for Responsible Gambling, said that they were delighted to have the support of the EFL and the BHA:
“We want to take the message about safer gambling even further this year and are confident this will be our biggest campaign yet.”
