The UK gambling industry has been going through a turbulent period in recent months, but one high profile operator is still aiming to expand.
Well-known bookmaker Bet365, has announced that it will be increasing its operational capacity in the city of Manchester. The firm has confirmed that it will be holding a new five-year lease focused on a building in the city centre. And the new announcement comes just a few weeks after Bet365 opened a new department in the city. Last November, the firm announced the launch of a new DevOps department in the Manchester area, a move that significantly increased their capacity.
And the news that one of the UK’s biggest bookmakers was set to take up a presence at the Core buildings in the centre of Manchester was welcomed by Boultbee Brooks Real Estate, which is responsible for the building. James Whitcher, the Asset Management Director at Boultbee, said that it was a testament to the work that had been done to make the building attractive to newcomers, and Jonathan Cook, an Associate Director at CBRE Manchester echoed those sentiments:
“We’re delighted to secure such a high-profile company for the remaining space at Core. Following its comprehensive refurbishment, Core has become one of Manchester’s most popular and sought-after office buildings, appealing to tenants seeking a mix of modern office suites and collaborative workspaces.
The two new developments further extend a presence in the city that goes back to 2018. That year, Bet365 set up a new technology support centre, in the Spring Gardens area of the city. That unit was further enlarged by last November’s expansion, which is run by group subsidiary Hillside Technology, which has set up what the company describes as a ‘site reliability team’.
The new launch also comes after a successful 2019 for Bet365, which was able to announce revenue of £2.98 billion for the year.
